oh, hey there,
I'm Shannon!
I’m just a regular mom who decided to take back control of my life after several years of significant hardships, including the Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis of my son.
Making sure my son is healthy and that I’ve set him up for good diabetes management as he grows is my #1 priority!
Helping other T1D Moms is my passion.
I WANTED MORE THAN CLINICAL ADVICE!
Parenting a child with Type 1 Diabetes comes with many challenges. Your life revolves around blood sugar numbers, carbohydrates, insulin ratios, supplies, and never-ending changes.
When we were starting this journey, I, like you are most likely doing now, scoured the internet looking for direction from another mother raising a Type 1 child. Everything I found was so clinical. Every website was focused on the symptoms and diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes, and written by a healthcare company. It was cold, medical advice, that was completely unrelatable to how I was FEELING.
I was looking for the advice of another mom who had been through this; who was sharing what she had learned, what helped, and what didn’t work. I was looking for someone I could relate to, a friend – who knew exactly what I was going through… Who demonstrated how to ACTUALLY LIVE life while raising a Type 1 Diabetic Child.
And I didn’t find it.
So I spent the next year searching for solutions that worked for a child with Type 1 Diabetes, not an adult with Diabetes; trying them, experimenting with them, changing them, and documenting everything – and created what I was looking for when my son was first diagnosed; in hopes that it would help just one more recently-diagnosed mother.
I never guessed that years later, Mom Of A Type 1 would grow into what it has become today, and I am honored by those that have trusted me to guide them through this devastating and emotional process and encouraged by the friends I have made here along the way.
Parenting a child with Type 1 Diabetes is hard, challenging work. And, I want to help you go from devastated and overwhelmed to confident and in-control too.
